Diet Log Day 5 & 6

March 3rd, 2010 by admin

Yesterday I woke up worried because I had a wedding later that day and still I didn’t know where I was suppose to go. I called the bride the day before, but still have not received a response. Soooo, I chowed down with some beef jerky to calm my nerves. Beef Jerky from my beef jerky machine, I should mention. Yes I make beef jerky. I bought the dehydrator a few months back. You have no idea how much it actually cost to make beef jerky. Almost as much as it is to buy it. When I first bought the thing I thought about how great it would be to have beef jerky around at all times. It would be heaven, since I am a big fan of beef jerky and find myself spending as much on it as coffee. But then I would start to make beef jerky one night and eat it all the next day and then find myself running to the store to buy more beef to make more beef jerky to feed my addiction. It wasn’t healthy so I stopped going to the store. Plus, I was becoming broke from buying so much beef.

Hmmm….clothes or beef jerky? Definitely clothes. Clothes or starbucks? Definitely…..starbucks. Haha. Pretty sad.

So later, sometime mid morning morning I worked out. See Marci….I did work out in the morning this weekend. Hi-five! And I threw a few squats in there just to change it up,  since my butt is looking a little flabby.

Finally, the bride calls me back. I finish working out, I shower and get ready to drive to Suisun City for this wedding. I get there five minutes late because mapquest sucks and I forgot to get gas, but at least I didn’t have to go up any mountains. I hate those. But that’s okay because they started and hour late…..and it was the most unorganized BORING wedding I’ve ever been to, but hey I got paid and they had some good catered BBQ food…..and lots and lots of POTATO SALAD….mmmmm mayonnaise and carbs…..but since now it is day 5 of my diet it is getting easier and easier to resist such yummy temptations. I had some tri-tip, chicken, fruit and salad.

…and today was a pretty good day too. I started off with a walk with my sister. Got ready to go to an engagement shoot.

….but around this time on my diet I start to get lightheaded from the lack of carbs. Being out in the sun and heat doesn’t help. Luckily I have been here before last year when I was on a diet for my wedding and have learned that yogurt really helps with that. So when I got home I edited some photos, had lots of water and had a yogurt while I caught up on the last season of Supernatual. Jensen Ackles is sooo HAWT. I’m so hungry that I could eat him.

Jensen accompanied me while I worked out…..and probably later on when I get in the shower. :) j/k….I’m married, Jensen….I mean, really my husband doesn’t fight off demons and save the world….or wears leather jackets….or has quirky comebacks…but I love him anyway.

Okay, I’m gonna go cheat now and have a glass of milk with some mocha mix…..more tomorrow.

Sorry I couldn’t find one with him naked.

Yeah, it’s a bummer. I’m uh… 57 (albiet a very ‘young’ 57!…). The Jimi Hendrix Experience will always be one of the groups that most influenced my musical career. It’s sad to think all those guys are gone now.

Thanks for keeping their music and Spirit alive Toni!

Electric Dave

Dave Lawrence

Very sad day for the music world. I wanted to add a few facts: Mitch Mitchell played EVERY SINGLE Jimi Hendrix headlining concert since the band’s first gig on Oct 13. 1966 in France until his last head lining date Sept 6 1970 (Isle of Fehrmarn) except for the 4 Fillmore East New Year’s Eve Band of Gypsies show (early and late show 12/31/69 …I went to the early show… and the early and late show jan 1. 1970) and the January 28, 1970 Concert for Peace show at Madison Square Garden… the Band of Gypsy’s final show (i went to that too….Buddy Miles was fired in the dressing room after the show). Mitch then rejoined the band for all 37 shows for the Cry of Love tour for the rest of Jimi’s career (I saw Mitch play again with Jimi July 17,1970 here at Randall’s Island in New York). So Buddy Milles only played 2 shows with Jimi officially (though they were the best of friends)..the 4 Fillmore East BOG gigs and the MSG gig in Jan 1970, though Jimi did guest with the Electric Flag in 1968 once at the Fillmore East and Buddy did guest with Jimi at Oakland and Winterland….the Buddy Miles Express were the opening act, also in 1968.
I was fortunate enough to see Mitch play with Jimi 3 times: May 10,1968 at the Fillmore East…my first concert ever, Woodstock, and at Randall’s Island. I did see him play last Oct 15, 2007 at the Beacon Theatre here in NYC and then a few weeks ago at the Hammerstein here. If anyone would like to see a pic of Mitch smiling happily in the dressing room at that show just a few weeks ago please email me at eltrcdave@aol.com he seemed totally fine and in good health.
After just losing Buddy Miles and now Mitch this is very difficult to deal with.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience is now gone physically… Castles Made of Sand that have slipped into the Sea……..eventually….like us all will. But if you believe in an afterlife….. well…..
As Jimi would say “If i dont see you no more on this world I’ll see you on the NEXT one…..so don’t be late….don’t be late”
Peace, Love & Music,
Electric Dave

Will never forget the “BUZZ” around London in the late 60’s when the Experience played, trouble is you could never get in !! The places they played Marquee etc were very small venues. Mitch made them different with his Jazz influences and style, put a straight rock drummer in and the sound would have been VERY different.
A sad time, but we have to face reality, all our heros are getting a bit older and I dont see many of the new bands having a career and selling music 40 years AFTER they split up.
If there is an afterlife, there is gonna be some great gigs to go too !!!
R.I.P. Mitch - wont see you no more in this world, see you in the next one, dont be late !!

Fond memories - Tony Drake.

Died of old age at 61?

Saw the group autumn 1968 at Yale. (Cat Mother and the All Nite newsboys opened)

Mitchell’s drumming was stratospheric, on a par with Keith Moon especially on songs like Manic Depression and Third Stone from the Sun.

Too bad, every week there’s another who “dies before they get old”.

"BLUSH" & "INJECT ME SWEETLY" OUT NOW!!

March 2nd, 2010 by admin

MY 2 new songs are out NOW on iTunes!! “BLUSH” & “INJECT ME SWEETLY”

I recorded “Blush” when I was writing “Beauty Killer” but decided not to put it on the album. But I did play it once in London & someone recorded it, put it on YouTube & everyone keeps asking for it… so now I’m gonna let you all have it!! Right now I’m writing new music already for 2010 that may come out end of  summer.. not sure yet. This song doesn’t reflect my new music, but it is fun & bitchy.

Blood On The Dance Floor - “Inject Me Sweetly” feat. Jeffree Star
I flew to Florida recently & did 3 songs with these amazing guys. We’re putting this out the same day as Blush because we love our fans so much and you deserve NEW music!!! I really love BOTDF and they have the same love and passion for music as me. So much love and so much hate, reminds me of myself :D can’t wait for everyone 2 hear our magic!!

February 28th, 2010 by admin
